This was the last game of the season for the "Mean Machine" of CU8-H. CU8-J is a very well coached team and displayed fantastic soccer fundamentals throughout the entire match. Their offense pressured the "Mean Machine" through both halves of the game. The "Mean Machine" had limited chances to score today but did manage to kick one on a nice pass from Richard Cady to Ethan LePain who busted through for the goal. We used three goalies today that included Noah Garriott, Ethan Carlen and Anthony DellaGrotta. Our defense was busy keeping the ball out of our side of the field. The defensive stars of the game were D.J. Carignan, William George, Gavin Kearney, Justyn Farber, Ryan Bibiau, David Rexter and David Marzella.

The coaches are very pleased at the way the "Mean Machine" progressed during the season and improved each game.

We would like to thank all the players and parents who made this a special season. See you next year.

As the season winds down for the "Mean Machine" of CU8-H, the offense keeps rolling. Anthony DellaGrotta scored two more goals today as he continues to impress his coaches. D.J. Carignan and Ethan LePain also added two goals apiece as the "Mean Machine" kept up the attack. Congratulations to Richard Cady who scored his first goal of the 2007 season on some smart passing from David Marzella and Noah Contardo. The goalie for CU8-C made several fine stops to keep the scoring down. The defense for the "Mean Machine" was led by Justyn Farber, Ryan Bibiau and William George. The goaltenders for the game for the "Mean Machine" were David Rexter and Noah Garriott who were ready and poised for action. Another fine game played by our team as we head to the final game of the season next week.

Great job guys!!!

The game this week was played under heavy winds as the "Mean Machine" of CU8-H was opposed by CU8-E. The game was a match up of two very good teams. CU8-E scored the first goal on a breakaway in the first half.

David Marzella made several fine plays at the goalie position to keep the "mean machine" in the game. The second half started with a goal from Ethan LePain on a great pass from William George. Anthony DellaGrotta kept up the persistent attack but the team from CU8-E was great. Gavin Kearney, Justyn Farber, Ryan Bibiau, D.J. Carignan, and Noah Contardo of the "Mean Machine" were busy keeping CU8-E away from the goal. Noah Garriott was in goal in the second half and made some fine diving plays. Ethan Carlen and David Rexter provided defensive help in the second half.

The final goal of the game was the second of the day for Ethan LePain as he and Richard Cady worked together moving the ball down the field as Ethan LePain finally broke free for the goal. We would like to thank the parents who helped out at the field house today. Great job "Mean Machine."

See you in two weeks.

This was the best game thus far for the "Mean Machine" of CU8-H. Our team played stifling on offense and was flawless on defense. Anthony DellaGrotta had three spectacular goals, two in the first half. William George had two goals himself, one on a blast from twenty feet away. D.J. Carignan scored his first goal of the season on a beautiful pass from Ethan Carlen. The defense had control from the start led by David Rexter, Noah Contardo, Justyn Farber and Ethan LePain. In goal today for the "mean machine" of CU8-H was Noah Garriott and making his 2007 debut, Gavin Kearney. The defense was so good that the lone shot on goal was caught on a diving play by Gavin Kearney.

Our practices have been vigorous but the results show with every game. They truly are a "machine".

Great job guys.

The soccer skills of the "Mean Machine" CU8-H are getting better with each game.

The defense today was outstanding lead by David Rexter, David Marzella, Noah Contardo, Gavin Kearney, Justyn Farber and Noah Garriott. The offense was fast and furious. The aggressive play of Ethan Carlen, Ethan LePain, William George and Anthony DellaGrotta along with the hustle of D.J. Carignan made over twelve shots on goal. Anthony scored three goals, one that was about twenty feet away on a great pass by William George-who added a goal of his own.

The "Mean Machine" practiced very hard this week on sharing the ball and getting into position to attack the defense and it showed during the game.

They deserve a lot of credit on the improvement shown on the field.

The "Mean Machine" of CU8-H showed they can also play well in a low scoring game.

Goals from Anthony DellaGrotta and William George was it for the "mean machine" in this defensive struggle. Richard Cady, D.J. Carignan, Ethan Carlen and David Rexter kept the play away from the "Mean Machine" end of the field. David Marzella was great in goal as usual as the play went back and forth without many scoring chances. Noah Garriott also played the goalie position and was very good in his debut.

Great game guys, your parents should be very proud of you.

Going into our game, we only had 10 players.  Before the game started we decided that we would do our “best”.

The first half was going back and forth to both goal lines and neither team could get a goal into the net.  Lucky for us, we had Hannah Dogon playing as “goalie” and she saved quite a few breakaway shots.  Our defense, as well was working hard much of this playing time.  Madison Cook-Himes was moved back from her normal position to play right defender and she was able to break up many offensive attacks.  She was relentless in her ability to never give up and to keep after the ball. In addition, Emily Gallagher stepped up to be the center defender as her “strong” kick was able to clear out the possibility of many goals on net.

Our left defender, Shannon Printer, refuses to let anyone get passed her as her footwork proved to be an asset in getting the ball to the side and up the field to her teammates.  Midfielder Sarah Nardella, who also later played defense, was a bee buzzing around trying to gather the ball from others and sending it forward.

At the half, though, the score was a mere 0-0.  We stepped it up the second half by putting Alex Palermo in net who had a few great saves and punts, while Hannah Dogon went up front as a forward who eventually snuck through the opponent’s defense and went in for a beautiful shot.  The flow of the game was on our side now as Kristine McCann, Emily Gallagher, Lisa Thiele and Alexis Clough worked the offensive line.  We finally spread out and started passing which would lead us to 3 more goals by Kristine McCann.  Lisa Thiele broke away and zig zagged between the players to go in for a shot that was stopped by the goalie, but the effort did not go unnoticed.  Emily Gallagher also was a whiz on right forward as she worked the sideline and eventually went in for a nice shot.

So, overall, our girls stepped it up and played with only 10 players the entire game.

Now, that’s HEART!

Today Dr. Gordon Orthodontics played team B.  It was a much better match for us as we played fairly evenly most of the game.

Dr. Gordon came out on top with a score of 3-1.  Although we continued to bunch up in our positions, when we decided to spread out and pass, we were successful.  Sarah Nardella scored two goals, while Kristine McCann scored the other one.  Our other forwards, Maidson Cook-Himes, Alex Palermo and Alyssa Caron worked diligently to keep the ball on our scoring end and would pass when they could.

The midfielders of Lisa Thiele, Emily Gallagher and Alexis Clough chased the ball, both on the offensive and defensive sides.  They would eventually send the ball to the forwards to push the ball forward.  It was our defensive line up that had a lot of action this game.

Karissa Peltier, Paige Sykes, Shannon Printer, Alanna Palermo and the backbone of the defense, Alyssa Harvey, cleared the ball when they could.  There were times were Team B would have a break away and we had to do some chasing.  With the efforts of Hannah Dogon and Alex Palermo in net, we were able to hold them off a bit.  It seemed to be a rough game as many of our players had “injuries” on the field, stopping the game for a bit.  However, in the end, they were fine to return to the field.

Zach was unstoppable again today netting 2 goals. Matt T. and Aiden continue to set him up in the slot. James and Alex displayed some serious offensive attacks netting a few theselves. Marrissa made it back from the injured reserve and brought some enthusiasm to her teammates. Haley and Libby continue their signature hand holding defense. Katie, Taryn, Abbi and Olivia put in solid efforts while digging deep in the bee hive trying to free the ball. Matt S. was missed this week but I am sure he will have 2 weeks worth of energy to expel next game.

All in all, they did fantastic.  They have quickly learned which way to go even when changing sides.  Our practice with spreading our and passing is proving to pay off.

See you all next saturday.

It was a blistering hot day!  Right girls?

Nothing could keep them cool and the other team was not only hot because of the heat, but on fire with many shots put in the back of our net.  The win was a great one for them, but a disappointing appearance for us.  However, even with the inconsistent play, sweeper Alyssa Harvey put up an awesome effort.  At times, she was the only defender in the backfield left to deflect passes.  Additionally, Shannon Printer, Alanna Calabro and Paige Sykes showed strong defense.

Since Hannah Dogon was out because of an injured foot, Paige Sykes, Sarah Nardella and Alex Palermo also played in the net and all had superb effort.   Our midfielders Alexis Clough, Emily Gallagher, Sarah Nardella, Lisa Thiele and Alex Palermo tried to get the ball to our offensive end, over and over, but the defense of the opposing team was very strong and they would send it back over our heads.

Maddy Cook-Himes was one of the most flexible players in the game, playing every line except goalie.  As a first year player, she is learning a lot and putting it altogether. Forwards, Kristine McCann, Alyssa Caron and Maddy Cook-Himes were diligently working to score goals, but with no finishes.

Lucky for us, on a corner kick by McCann, we received a gift from an “own” goal by the other team.  Karissa Peltier was unable to attend and she was definitely missed on the field.

Some adjustments will definitely be made after this game and a comeback is at hand!

Our team on this Sunday had a great performance.  We pulled off the win with an offensive showing of 6-2.  Sarah Nardella with two goals and Kristine McCann with four goals were the only scorers for the day. However, they were fed with balls from other forwards and midfielder who worked hard all day long.  Maddy Cook-Himes fought aggressively for the ball along with teammates Alex Palermo and Alexis Clough.  Additionally, Alyssa Caron worked the left side of the field to finish out the forward line. Midfielders Emily Gallagher and Lisa Thiele were able to advance the ball to the forwards many times.   These two run and run and run!

As for the defensive team of Alyssa Harvey, Karissa Peltier, Shannon Printer and Alanna Calabro, they were unstoppable.  These hard workers attacked the ball and cleared it whenever possible.  Hannah Dogon and Paige Sykes stopped a variety of shots on the net and the other team only converted for two goals.  Both of them came out on break aways and stopped the plays!

All in all , the girls played with a venegence!

This game started with a bang.

Within the first five minutes of the game the "Mean Machine" from CU8-H scored three goals. The first goal of the season for the "Mean Machine" was scored by Ethan LePain on a fine play off a pass from William George. This was followed by two quick goals By William George as he worked his way through the defense. The final goal for the CU8-H "Mean Machine" was scored by Anthony Della Grotta who displayed great soccer skills and agility.

The "Mean Machine" defense was awesome lead by D.J. Carignan, Noah Garriott, Noah Contardo, Ethan Carlen, Justyn Farber, Gavin Kearney and Richard Cady. Richard Cady was in goal last week but this week was playing on both offense and defense and proved to be a very versatile player for the "Mean Machine." The goalkeepers for the "Mean Machine" were David Marzella and David Rexter who made several outstanding plays for their team.

There was plenty of offense to start off the 2008 season.

The CU8-J team scored often on great teamwork. The CU8-H "Mean Machine" was lead by Anthony Della Grotta, Daniel "D.J." Carignan and Ethan LePain. The first half was a defensive struggle between the lines from CU8-J and the play of Noah Garriott, Noah Contardo, David Marzella, David Rexter and Ethan Carlen. CU8-J was tough, the "Mean Machine" of CU8-H had four shots on goal, three by Ethan LePain and a final shot at the end of the game by Noah Garriott.

The players of the game for CU8-H "Mean Machine" were D.J. Carignan and Anthony Della Grotta. They all deserve a lot of praise.

It was a great day for the CU5 teams.  Meckandil Tool played CU5 C and had a great time.  Both teams hustled to the ball and took many shots on net.  Even though the kids were HOT, they did not give up. They drank their water and Gatorade to help them get energy!

Evan- ran and kicked the ball many times into the goal
Sophie- stopped the ball and took it away from the other team
Deanna- kicked the ball hard up the field
Danielle- ran and ran and kept kicking the ball up the field
Hayden- took the ball to the goal for many shots
Ian- ran to the ball, kicked it to friends and shot the ball into the goal
Noah- ran fast, stopped balls from scoring and kicked the ball to his friends
Peter- took the ball in for a goal
Joseph- dribbled the ball down the field and ran to catch up with the kids
Jianna- ran fast with the kids and dribbled the ball
Michael- tried the best he could for today
Colby- ran and ran and dribbled the ball towards the goal
Nathan- was in Maine and hopefully was keeping cool

Can you believe what these players did?  Wow, I was so proud of them and I bet anyone who watched really enjoyed the game!  Keep it up, kids!

Today was the first game of the 2007 season.  We played GU 12 A.  It was hot and humid and the conditions were tough to play in, but our girls did a great job!

We were tough on the defensive end with our sweeper Alyssa Harvey always clearing the ball.  Also, Karissa Peltier was our center defender most of the game who also saved the ball from advancing toward our goal.  Assisting her were Shannon Printer, Paige Sykes and Alanna Calabro with strong, aggressive tackles to stop the opponents offensive plays.

As for our midfielders, they ran and ran, sending the ball forward for goals and chasing balls down to get possession.  Wow, they were impressive.  Lisa Thiele, Emily Gallagher, Sarah Nardella and Kristine McCann all worked together with the forwards to create a strong offensive front.  Thiele Nardella were both able to work the sidelines with finesse, while then sending the ball toward the goal for others to take shots on net.

Our forward line of Alyssa Caron, Maidson Cook-Himes, Alex Palermo and Alexis Clough consistently tried to keep the ball on our offensive side.  They took the ball to the middle, crossed the ball and shot the ball. Eventually, we had a couple of shots fall in with McCann’s strong foot with 4 goals and Gallagher’s left footer completed us out with 5 goals.

An impressive beginning!  Nice job, girls!
