DELLA CIOPPA TOURNAMENT RULES
2007 Date: TBD

  • Games in the Della Cioppa are regulation time for U12 (30 minute) and U14 (35 minute) halves
  • In each game the home team is the team which finished higher in the standings
  • As has been the case in the previous year’s Della Cioppa the Visitors wear pinnies
  • The tournament is single elimination. Winners continue to the next round
  • In the event of a tie at the end of regulation play there will be two 5 minute halves. The teams switch ends of the fields after the first five minute half. Play continues until the end of the two 5 minute periods (not golden rule)

In the event of a tie at the end of overtime:

  1. All players on the field must immediately go to the center circle
  2. No substitute players may enter the field
  3. 5 players from each team will be selected to take alternating penalty kicks
  4. The goalkeeper for each team is the goalkeeper who was the goal at the end of the second overtime period
  5. The referee will select which goal will be used for all PKs
  6. All players except the two goalkeepers will remain in the center circle until they are taking the kick
  7. Rebound shots are not counted for goals
  8. The goalkeeper not receiving a shot will stand by the corner flag
  9. After 5 shots if the score is again tied then 5 new player from the center circle are selected for shots
  10. No player may take a second PK attempt until all players on the team have made an attempt. Substitute players will take PKs once all players on the field have tried
  11. A winner is declared when one team has scored more PKs after a 5 shot round
